The crystal clear, warm waters are rich in diverse marine life and stunning coral reefs, an irresistible draw for diving enthusiasts from around the world. It is totally a paradise for shark lovers. In fact, you can dive with several species of sharks, including hammerhead and tiger sharks!
- Tiger Sharks: Especially around the Tiger Beach dive site.
- Caribbean reef sharks: Often seen when diving.
- Nurse Sharks: Known from Compass Cay, where you can often swim with them.
- Large hammerhead sharks: Regularly seen off Bimini.
- Lemon Sharks: Common in shallow waters.
- Whitetip sharks: Especially around Cat Island.
Diving with hammerhead sharks
Diving with hammerhead sharks is a real highlight of a visit to Bimini. This special experience takes place during the winter months, from December to April, when large schools of hammerhead sharks visit the waters around Bimini. Divers of all experience levels can participate in these breathtaking expeditions, under the supervision of the experienced dive guides.
Diving with hammerhead sharks is not only exciting, it also provides a unique opportunity to learn about these fascinating creatures and their role in the marine ecosystem.
Diving with tiger sharks
For those seeking the ultimate adrenaline rush, you also have the chance to dive with tiger sharks. These formidable predators are known for their impressive size and beautiful stripes. From May to July, tiger sharks come to Tiger Beach.
During a dive with tiger sharks, the safety of the divers is ensured by the experienced dive masters. They ensure that interactions with these mighty sharks are conducted in a responsible and respectful manner, which not only ensures the safety of the divers, but also does not disturb the sharks in their natural behavior.

Also going to the sharks?
We offer several trips to the Bahamas. Tiger Beach is quite remote, about 6 hours by boat from Grand Bahama. Bimini is also isolated. For both destinations, a liveaboard is the best choice.
With the Dolphin Dream, you can combine both locations in one trip. This is the only liveaboard where you can see both hammerhead and tiger sharks during the same trip.
