No matter how much diving experience you have, if you are not already familiar with ice diving, you only know the tip of the iceberg. Take a seat on an icebreaker and watch whales swim by. Are you unsure if this is for you? Don’t walk around pacing, go meet them!

Whales and polar bears
Several times we have taken a group of divers to go diving North Pole in the cold Arctic and Antarctic waters. The underwater rocky landscape is covered with a thick chalk layer of seaweed, to which bell-shaped jellyfish, called stalk jellyfish, cling. In the current are many “ghost crabs” busy catching plankton. Among the plankton float numerous black wing snails and sea urchins. Not many fish live here, but there are crabs, shrimp, starfish and large dahlias of various colors. You can also dive under the drift ice, obviously with constant visibility to the edge of the ice, so you don’t get too far under the ice in strong currents.
Journey to East Greenland – Scoresby Sund | Aurora Borealis
This is an Arctic diving expedition to the world’s largest fjord system, the Scoresby Sund, in East Greenland. At this time of year, we have a good chance of seeing the magnificent northern lights, the Aurora Borealis, here. Soon we will cross the Arctic Circle and sail further north, possibly encountering the first whales. As we will approach the east coast of Greenland at Cap Brewster in the evening, we may also be able to see the first icebergs.
Travel to North Svalbard | Polar Bear Special
Going along the pack ice of North Svalbard, we are most likely to encounter the “King of the Arctic,” the polar bear. With this Arctic diving expedition, we go to the Raudfjord, on the northern coast of West Svalbard. This beautiful fjord, dominated by spectacular glaciers, is a favorite spot for Ringed seals and Bearded seals. Thousands of seabirds nest on the bird cliffs in the fjord, and surprisingly rich vegetation grows in the sheltered spots and under the bird cliffs. Polar bears are often seen in this fjord.
Svalbard diving expedition
A Svalbard diving expedition is an extraordinary experience. Along with other nature lovers, you will stay aboard a comfortable cruise ship. A special diving program has been created for divers. It gives reasonably experienced dry-suit divers a unique opportunity to admire the polar ice underwater. We will attempt a real ice dive.
Next trip: Jul 23 to Aug 1, 2023: Around Svalbard.
Join a polar expedition on an expedition cruise around Svalbard. This special expedition offers the chance to witness the unique polar landscape and see polar animals in their natural habitat: whales, walruses, seals, Arctic foxes, reindeer and the “King of the Arctis,” the Polar Bear.
Note: Diving is an optional activity. Experience in cold water diving and dry suit diving (at least 30) is a requirement!
