Diving in the Turks & Caicos

The idyllic Turkish- and Caicos Islands are a true diving paradise located at 925 kilometers at southeast of Miami. You’ll visit the Turks & Caicos with the liveaboard Turks & Caicos Explorer II.

This comfortable liveaboard sets enables you able to optimally to enjoy of your diving vacation, with but as many as 27 dives during the week and access to the best dive sites. When you just not underwater are , you can relaxed on the sun deck or participate to activities, such as tutu-Tuesday, organized by the vivid staff.

Off the Turks & Caicos Islands lies 1,600 km2 of reefs, much of which is in a protected park, the “Princess Alexandra National Parc. All dives made are therefore in that protected area. The strengths of Turks & Caicos are its excellent visibility and beautiful drop offs. Fish come in all shapes and sizes. Common are Caribbean reef sharks, but eagle rays, blacktip reef sharks, dolphins, jacks, groupers, schools of Bonito and turtles will also pass by in a week. The drop-offs are filled with man-sized gorgonians, sponges, hard coral arches and lots of macro life. Almost all dives start along a drop off, then end over the edge in the coral gardens.

Best travel time: The best time to dive the Turks & Caicos Islands is generally between May and November, when water temperatures are most pleasant. Having said that, the winter months are also definitely doable, just that a thicker wetsuit is wise. Thanks to the low annual rainfall and the reliable ocean currents is the visibility here all year round excellent.

Day 1 (Friday) - Flight to Providenciales

Today begins the journey to the Turks & Caicos. With a stopover in Canada or the United States, fly to Providenciales today. Given the flight time and time difference, you will arrive on day 2. You are about 16 hours away from Europe.

Providenciales, also known as Provo, is the main tourist destination and the largest city in the Turks and Caicos Islands. It is located on the island of Providenciales, which is part of the Caicos Islands. Provo is known for its beautiful white sand beaches, crystal clear turquoise waters and luxury resorts.

Day 2 (Saturday) - Arrival in Providenciales

Upon arrival in Providenciales, Explorer Ventures offers airport pickup. Guests can board the ship from 3 p.m. onward. For those arriving later, snacks or dinner are available. At 6:30 p.m. there will be a dinner for all guests. At 8 p.m., the Captain’s Briefing will take place, where important information, documents and details about the trip will be discussed. This briefing provides an opportunity to meet the staff and ask questions. This way you will have a safe and worry-free diving expedition.

Day 3 to 8 - Diving & Excursions

The Turks & Caicos Explorer II offers a varied dive schedule with 5 dives per day, including night dives. You will explore several dive sites, including the Black Coral Forest with 5 different types of black coral, the reef sharks of Provo’s Shark Hotel, the deep-water gorgonians of G-Spot and the spotted eagle rays of Double D. There are numerous other dive sites along the region’s steep walls. During the trip, island excursions will also be organized for those interested.

An example schedule is as follows:

  • Sunday (Day 3): Diving at Provo’s Northwest Point, with 4-5 dives.
  • Monday (Day 4): Diving at Northwest Point in the morning, followed by a 2-hour trip to West Caicos. Three dives on West Caicos.
  • Tuesday (Day 5): Up to 5 dives on West Caicos.
  • Wednesday (Day 6): Two dives on West Caicos, crossing to French Cay, three dives on French Cay.
  • Thursday (Day 7): Five dives on French Cay.
  • Friday (Day 8): Dawn Dive & Morning Dive on French Cay, departure for the 2-hour return trip to port. Afternoon at leisure, dinner ashore, with overnight aboard ship.

Please note that this is a sample schedule and may change at the captain’s discretion depending on weather and logistics.

Day 9 (Saturday) & 10 (Sunday) - Disembarkation and home?

After a fantastic diving vacation in the Turks & Caicos, it’s time to return to Europe or extend your stay. On the last day you will enjoy a continental breakfast and depart from the Turks & Caicos Explorer II at 09:00. You can choose to fly back to Europe, looking back on unforgettable dives. If you’re not yet ready to say goodbye, you have the option of extending your stay in Jamaica or the Turks and Caicos Islands. Whether you return home or extend your stay, this diving vacation will leave lasting memories.

The Turks & Caicos Explorer II liveaboard has been carefully designed to provide a luxury experience as a yacht and as a charter boat. With advanced features such as Naiad stabilizers and a sturdy keel, the boat is well suited for long trips over open waters, including the Silver Bank, located 80 miles north of the Dominican Republic.

The crew of the Turks & Caicos Explorer II consists of a lively, dynamic and hard-working team of divers who prioritize personal service and fostering a friendly atmosphere. With their extensive experience in the liveaboard industry, the crew adheres to strict safety standards and this guarantees an unforgettable diving vacation.

With a maximum of 20 passengers and 8 crew, this luxury ship ensures a comfortable stay for all guests. Each cabin on board is equipped with portholes or windows, individually controlled air conditioning and a private bathroom.

On board, you have several cabin options. On the upper deck there are VIP staterooms 1 and 2, with individually controlled air conditioning, a queen-size bed, desk, chair and private bathroom with shower. Staterooms 3 & 4 on the main deck each have twin beds, a desk with chair, a hanging closet, a closet, storage space, individually controlled air conditioning and a private bathroom with shower. Staterooms 5 through 7 on the main deck have a combination of twin or queen-size beds, a desk with chair, a hanging closet, a closet, storage space, individually controlled air conditioning and a private bathroom with shower. Staterooms 8 to 10 are located on the lower deck and have a combination of upper and lower beds, a closet, a hanging locker, individually controlled air conditioning and a private bathroom with shower. The lower deck also houses the communications room and crew cabins.
