The best of diving in Lembeh
Diving in Lembeh is very special. Indeed, Lembeh is known as the “critters capital” of the world, where you can spot unique animals such as the flamboyant cuttlefish, hairy frogfish, blue ring octopus, mandarin fish and pygmy seahorses. The muck diving is ideal for macro photography, with black sandy bottoms providing a stunning contrast to the colorful marine life. Best travel time for a diving vacation to Lembeh
The best travel time for a diving vacation to Lembeh is from May through October. During this period, the water is clear, there is less chance of rain, and the sea is calm. November to April is also suitable for diving in Lembeh, but there may be more rain due to the wet season. However, this has little impact on muck diving, as most dive sites are sheltered.

Wetsuit advice for diving in Lembeh – Indonesia
For diving in Lembeh, a 3 to 5 mm wetsuit is recommended, depending on your personal preference and the season. Water temperatures are usually between 26 and 29 degrees Celsius, which is relatively warm. However, because muck diving often requires little movement and you lie still for longer periods of time while spotting macro life, a slightly thicker wetsuit (5 mm) may be more comfortable to avoid heat loss.

Today begins your journey to Indonesia, with your final destination being the beautiful D’Lagoon Dive Resort on Lembeh. You will fly to the airport of Manado, located on the island of Sulawesi. Due to the time difference and travel time, you usually arrive the next day. Upon arrival in Manado you will be met by a representative of D’Lagoon. A comfortable drive of about an hour will take you to the coast at Bitung, where you transfer to a boat. Within 5 minutes you will sail through the serene waters to the lagoon of D’Lagoon, where your adventure really begins.
Day 3 to 9 | Macro dives in Lembeh
The next 7 days are all about diving in Lembeh. Each day you make two morning dives along the famous black sandy bottoms, where you can spot unique critters like pygmy seahorses and hairy frogfish. In addition, your dive package includes two spectacular night dives where you will discover a completely different underwater world, as well as a special mandarinfish dive. Of course it is possible to extend your dive package in advance or on site with for example afternoon dives.
The black sandy bottoms of Lembeh form a fascinating backdrop where you can spot the most unusual critters, such as flamboyant sea moths, hairy frogfish, blue ring octopuses, pygmy seahorses and mandarin fish.
As soon as the sun goes down, an entirely new group of sea creatures comes to life. You can spot rare night creatures such as stargazers, bobtail squid and hairy octopus.
A highlight of Lembeh is the mandarinfish dive. Just after sunset, you can admire these colorful and iconic fish as they perform their mesmerizing mating dance among the coral.
Day 10 | Visit to Tangkoko National Park
Today you will explore the beautiful Tangkoko Nature Reserve, one of the most impressive rainforests in North Sulawesi. This half-day tour offers a unique opportunity to spot some of the region’s most special animals, such as black crested macaques, tarsiers, bear cusk and colorful hornbills. The reserve is a nature lover’s paradise!
To make the most of your visit, leave early in the morning. After a short boat ride and a car ride of about an hour you will arrive at the park, just in time to see the animals in their most active hours.
