Roatán is one of the most beautiful diving destinations in the Caribbean and is part of the impressive Mesoamerican Reef, the second largest barrier reef in the world. During this dive trip, you will stay at Naboo Resort & Dive Center, a small-scale and attractive adults-only resort in West Bay, within walking distance of the beach.

Thanks to the combination of comfortable accommodation and a professional diving school in the same location, the trip is carefree and relaxed. You dive in small groups and receive personal guidance, which ensures a safe and pleasant experience underwater. Moreover, many dive sites are a short distance away, allowing you to make several dives a day without long boat times.

An impressive variety of landscapes awaits underwater: colorful coral reefs, steep walls, swim-throughs and even wrecks. The clear, warm water offers excellent visibility and is home to a rich marine life. Here you will meet tropical reef fish and turtles, among others, and with a little luck also larger species such as rays and sharks.

This trip is ideal for both novice and experienced divers who want to enjoy quality diving combined with a relaxing stay in a tropical destination.

Day 1 & 2 | The journey to Roatán, Honduras

Today your trip starts with a flight to Miami. Depending on your departure point and whether you take a direct or indirect flight, you will be between 10 and 13 hours on the way to Miami. Often you will arrive in the afternoon after which you will have a hotel close to the airport to recover from the first part of your trip.

The next day enjoy breakfast at leisure at the hotel and fly from Miami to Roatán in about 2.5 hours, often in the early afternoon.

Once you arrive on Roatán, you will be met by someone from the Naboo Resort & Dive center, who will take you to the resort in about 30 minutes. The resort is located in West Bay, one of the best spots on the island. You will find a bustling street with stores and restaurants, as well as one of the most beautiful beaches on the island: West Bay Beach….

There are more than 60 dive sites to explore around Roatán, giving you plenty of variety underwater during your stay. Your dive package consists of 20 dives, which you can schedule flexibly over your trip. The boat leaves daily in the morning for two dives and in the afternoon for a third dive. If you want to make three dives every day, you can easily extend your package.

During the dives, you will discover an impressive mix of underwater landscapes and marine life. Think steep walls, colorful coral reefs, plateaus and wrecks, interspersed with swim-throughs and sand flats. Around these dive sites you will see a wide variety of tropical marine life, such as schools of reef fish, turtles, moray eels and colorful coral formations. With a little luck, you will also encounter larger animals, such as eagle rays or reef sharks. Spotting a seahorse here also often succeeds without too much effort.

Visibility is generally good and water temperatures pleasant, contributing to relaxed and comfortable diving. In addition, there are excellent training sites, with clear mooring lines and sheltered, shallow reefs, ideal for both beginning divers and following specializations.

A special experience is the optional shark dive, where you have the chance to see several Caribbean reef sharks in their natural habitat. This dive is conducted in a quiet, non-fed setting and must be booked in advance with the dive center. This is a separate dive and not part of the standard dive package.

You won’t be able to dive on the last day, but there is plenty to do on Roatán to end your trip on a beautiful note. For example, take a relaxing walk on the white sands of West Bay Beach or enjoy one last dip in the sea while snorkeling.

There is also plenty to explore above the water. Think about a visit to local villages, an excursion through the green interior of the island or a drive to a viewpoint where you have a beautiful overview of the coast and Caribbean waters. For those who want to take it easy, there is plenty of room to enjoy the resort, pool and tropical surroundings for a while longer.

So you’ll end your diving trip relaxed, with one last day to absorb the atmosphere of Roatán before returning home.

After nine unforgettable days of diving in enchanting Roatán, your diving vacation comes to an end. The memories of special encounters with dolphins, sharks and the colorful underwater world will hopefully stay with you for a long time.

On the last morning, you will have some time to enjoy the atmosphere on the island. For example, take a relaxing walk, enjoy the beach one last time or pick up one last souvenir. Then you will be taken to Roatán airport for your return trip. Often you fly via Miami, where you transfer to the flight to Europe.
