Diving in Fiji; the Soft Coral Capital of the World
As one of the world’s premier dive sites, the Fiji Islands offer a combination of luxury, tranquility and a fantastic underwater world.
Fiji is very versatile as a diving destination. The amount of soft corals and quantity of sharks make this undeniably a world-class diving destination. Indeed, the powerful currents of the outer reefs bring nutrient-rich water from afar, which in turn attracts an incredible diversity of marine life, ranging from the smallest macro-life to amazing pelagic phenomena.
With an incredible diversity of more than 390 coral species and about 1,200 fish species, Fiji is a true paradise and there is something for every discerning diver. Wall dives, swim-throughs, caves, canyons and special encounters with animals such as bull sharks, wahoo and the occasional manta ray or whale shark make diving in Fiji an experience you won’t soon forget.
The Beqa Lagoon Resort in Fiji has been a household name for many years. The resort is very child-friendly (with babysitting service) as well as very romantic. The resort facilitates wedding ceremonies and offers special options for couples who are honeymooning or just want to spend some romantic time together. Think about private dinner experience by candlelight, various couples massage options or exploring the secret island together barefoot – including private beach. A visit to the Beqa Lagoon Resort in the Fiji Islands is definitely perfect for the diver with a romantic goal.
From the moment you arrive, you’ll feel at home among the tropical flowers, warm waters and extraordinary resort. World-class diving, delicious cuisine, relaxing spa treatments and incomparable Fijian hospitality are there for you to fully enjoy your stay.
Best travel time: Fiji offers year-round diving opportunities, with seasonal highlights due to natural ocean cycles. Summer offers warm water up to 28°C, ideal for spotting small marine animals and spawning corals, but less clear visibility due to plankton and algae growth. Winter with water around 23°C, offers clear visibility up to 50 meters and the opportunity to observe large fish and schools, preparing for reproduction.
Highlights by month for diving at Fiji!
In november the water temperatures begin to rise and it is the time for many animals to reproduce. There is an abundance of Spanish mackerel and the reefs are full of shellfish. Consequently, sea turtles come to the beaches to lay their eggs. December & January brings warm and humid weather, many reef fish reproduce, and the Titan triggerfish builds its nest in the sand and guards it frantically. January then also offers migrating tuna. February is the warmest month and jellyfish and other strange pelagic siphonophores can be seen. The month of march is the time for large schools of sardines, while in april you see the new life in the water. In may the wind begins to blow harder, but more Wahoo, Mahimahi and other large game fish can be seen. June is exciting because of the action of big fish and the start of humpback whale season. July offers deep and clear blue waters, and octopus season begins. August is the peak month for humpback whales, octopus and groupers are still plentiful on the reefs. In september it is great for encounters with big fish, while october marks the return of summer and nature prepares for a new cycle.
Wetsuit advice for FijiBetween November & May, a 3mm is usually sufficient. After that it cools off slightly and some divers will prefer to dive in a 5mm anyway.

During your visit to the resort, you will have the chance to explore some of the most impressive dive sites in the world. A highlight is undoubtedly the Cathedral Shark Dive, located at a depth of about 20 meters.
