Day 4 - 6 | Diving Camiguin: Mantigue Island & Old Volcano

The next three days are dedicated to diving at two of Camiguin’s finest dive sites including a day trip to Mantigue Island and Old Volcano.

Mantigue Island: This small island, located to the southeast of Camiguin, is reminiscent of the Maldives with its white sand beaches and turquoise waters. After a short drive and boat ride, we reach the dive site. Here you will find sandy paths, large boulders and a drop-off covered with corals. Keep your eyes open for large schools of fish, barracudas and turtles!

After diving, you can enjoy a delicious picnic on the beach of Mantigue Island. Snorkelers can also enjoy the crystal clear waters here.

Old Volcano: Located directly in front of the volcano, this dive site is characterized by a long, steep wall. Dive past ancient lava formations and boulders, surrounded by colorful corals, shellfish and mackerel. Macro lovers are also in for a treat here, with several species of shrimp and frogfish. The boat ride to the dive site offers stunning views of Camiguin’s coastline.

We start at the famous Sunken Cemetery and follow an ancient path through the jungle, where you can sometimes see locals carrying their goods to market with buffaloes. Mt. Hibok-Hibok and Old Volcano volcanoes show us the way through coconut forests and dense jungle.

Once you reach the top of the plateau, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Bohol Sea and White Island. Enjoy a picnic while looking out over this beautiful landscape.

The descent takes us past local farms and ends at the road, where the driver will be ready to take you back to the resort.

This excursion is highly recommended to complete your diving holiday and can only be booked locally. Or choose extra dives or a day of relaxation!

Day 8 | Camiguin Island Tour: volcanoes, waterfalls & natural springs

Today the guide will take you to the Ardent Hot Springs, located at the base of the Hibok-Hibok volcano. Then cool off at the spectacular Katibawasan Falls, a 70-meter-high waterfall that plunges into a natural basin. The scenery is breathtaking, with lush jungle, wild orchids and giant ferns.

You can also visit the Phivolcs Observatory, where you can see a seismograph that monitors the activity of the volcanoes on Camiguin. From the hill you have a beautiful view of the island.

After a scenic drive through the interior of Camiguin, you can take a refreshing dip at the Tuasan Waterfalls and visit the Bura Soda Water Park and the Santo Niño Cold Springs.

Dive into Camiguin’s history with a 2-tank dive at the Sunken Cemetery, a unique dive site with a special story.

In 1871, during the eruption of Old Volcano, the cemetery of Camiguin disappeared into the sea. Today, the site is a fascinating dive site, marked by a large white cross on an artificial island.

Underwater you will discover the cooled lava that has formed a new reef, with overhangs, boulders and an explosion of colors. Corals of all shapes and sizes cover the lava rocks, providing a home for a wide variety of marine life.

Keep your eyes open for octopuses hiding in the small caves, colorful nudibranches crawling over the corals and scorpion fish camouflaging themselves among the rocks. With a little luck, you’ll even spot a frogfish!

Day 11 | Waterfalls, mangrove forests and history

You begin your adventure tour at Katibawasan Falls, an impressive 70-meter-high waterfall. Take a refreshing dip in the cool water and enjoy the lush nature.

Day 12 | Mt. Hibok-Hibok Trekking

The Mt. Hibok-Hibok trek is a tough hike. Today you can climb this volcano, part of the “Ring of Fire,” and experience the power and beauty of nature.

Your trek begins in the early morning, as the sun slowly rises over Camiguin. You hike through a vast coconut plantation, where the smell of fresh coconuts meets you. As you climb higher, the landscape becomes more rugged and the coconut palms give way to lush ferns.

The rainforest zone marks the beginning of the real climb. The trail gets steeper and takes you through a green world full of unusual plants and animals. Look out for colorful birds, curious monkeys and rare insects.

After some considerable effort, you will reach the crater rim of Mt. Hibok-Hibok. The view is breathtaking! Look out over the island, the shimmering sea and the iconic White Island. From here it’s a short climb to the top, where you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views you’ll never forget.

The Mt. Hibok-Hibok trek is an unforgettable experience that brings you closer to nature and shows you how small we are in the shadow of a volcano.

This day is literally and figuratively the highlight of the Ring of Fire diving vacation Camiguin. In the dry season, you are virtually guaranteed to be able to do this hike. In the rainy season, it really varies from day to day. Therefore, the hiking excursions cannot be booked in advance and will be decided on the spot if it can be done.
