Group diving trip to Bali

Diving associations (and groups of friends) often look for diving trips within a limited budget to accommodate as many members as possible. This is why we are introducing the Bali Dive Experience: a 13-day dive vacation specifically for dive associations and groups of divers. This program is suitable for various diving levels, from beginners to experienced divers, with both easy and more challenging dive sites in Bali.

The Bali Dive Experience

Bali is one of the most coveted travel destinations in the world. The island is known for its beautiful beaches, rich culture, enchanting waters and abundance of marine life and wonderful temperature.

On this dive vacation you will explore several dive spots, including Nusa Penida, known for Manta Point where manta rays are regularly spotted, and in the right season Mola Molas! Other spots like Tulamben and Amed are ideal for underwater photography because of their remarkable macro-marine life and the famous Liberty Wreck. To make it complete, you will also go diving at Candidasa.

What is ideal about Bali is that it is also extremely suitable for non-diving partners. There are numerous excursions to take, including visiting temples, rice fields and other land excursions.

Best travel time: The best diving time in Bali is generally between the months of April and November. During this period it is usually dry and water temperatures are pleasant. Moreover, visibility is usually better underwater. The period from mid-September to late October marks the beginning of the so-called cold-water season, characterized by the influx of cold deep-sea water into the shallower waters. This season offers ideal diving conditions and Mola Molas are regularly seen.

ℹ️ For thethey trip applies a minimum number of participants of six persons and maximum number of twenty persons. It is possible to extend the dive package offered, on an individual basis, with more dives. This allows you to determine how much you dive per person.

Rebreather: Good to know, you can also rebreather dive on this dive vacation with the Mares Horizon! This is a semi-closed rebreather. You can take a course here to dive with the Mares Horizon or, if you are already certified, rent one!

Day 1 & 2 - Flight and arrival in Bali

Today you leave Europe for Bali. Depending on your starting point, you will be on the road for between 16 to 18 hours. To keep costs down, this is often with a stopover at Singapore or another hub. It is quite a flight, but once you arrive in Bali, you will already forget about that long journey.

Upon arrival at the airport, you will pick up a visa and be picked up after customs to drive to the Ocean Sun Dive resort. From the airport, it is still about 3.5 hours to the resort in Tulamben. Upon arrival, you check in and it’s time to relax. Should it still be fairly early, you can stop by the dive center right away for paperwork or to rent and try on dive equipment. The resort’s SSI dive center is within walking distance.

Day 3 to 7 - Diving at Tulamben

We start this dive trip with five relaxing dive days in Tulamben, where you will make two boat dives each day at different locations, such as:

Coral Garden: An ideal dive site for all levels, rich in corals, tropical fish and artificial reefs, with depths up to 80 meters.

Liberty Wreck: Bali’s most famous 125-meter wreck, an American freighter from WWII. It ranges in depth from 3 to 27 meters.

Alam Anda: This location, accessible via a short boat ride, offers stunning coral diversity and diverse marine life. The currents here are perfect for drift diving to the nearby Drop Off.

Drop-off: A shore dive site with an impressive wall, suitable for all levels. Here you will find rich coral growth, countless tropical fish and a chance to meet larger marine animals.

Day 8 - Diving at Amed

Today you will be diving at Amed. Which dive sites it will be will be determined in consultation with the diving school. It could become the dive site “Gili Selang”. After a 40-minute car ride and 20 minutes of sailing on a traditional Balinese boat, you reach this place, sandwiched between beautiful beaches and steep cliffs. The reef is home to a diversity of corals, reef sharks and turtles. Of particular note are the vast staghorn coral fields, where millions of anthias sparkle in the sunlight. Float through the coral fields and look for dwarf seahorses among red and yellow sea fans. Despite the relatively shallow depth of the dive, the site offers excellent conditions for all levels of divers and reveals one of Bali’s most beautiful underwater landscapes.

Day 9 - Diving at Candidasa

An excellent macro-diving site is the “Jetty.” This dive site in Bali is a large abandoned bridge near Padang Bai that you reach by boat from Candidasa in just twenty minutes. Most dives take place under this bridge. The bridge piers are covered with coral, which provides a home for countless fish. The sandy bottom is littered with many debris, such as old tires, which serve as shelter for various marine animals. In this area we encounter frogfish, scorpionfish, ghost pipefish and mimic octopus. Sometimes mackerel swim between the bridge piers.

After descending at the bridge, you begin the dive at a depth of about 18m. There you will discover large rocks which serve as hiding places for the octopuses. You explore the entire site by diving from pillar to pillar. Because the dive is shallow, air consumption is low and you can stay underwater for a long time. This is especially beneficial for photographers. Moreover, the sandy bottom gives you enough space to take the perfect photo without damaging the underwater world.

This dive site is suitable for all levels of divers.

Day 10 - Day trip to Nusa Penida

We end the diving big with a day trip to Nusa Penida. Here you will find the dive site Manta Point on the south coast of Nusa Penida. This is a popular dive site that does take some time to get to. First, you drive about 75 minutes by car, on the way you will see the rice terraces of Tirta Gannga, among others. Then you sail by boat for another 50 minutes or so until you reach Manta Point.

Manta Point gets its name from the manta rays that get cleaned by cleaner fish here, but between July and October Mola Mola are also regularly seen here. Divers here have a great chance to see these majestic creatures up close, which is a unique experience. When there are no manta rays, the rocky seabed still offers rich biodiversity, including corals, tropical fish, bamboo sharks and stingrays, but most of the time there are manta rays and you will probably only be concerned with that.

This dive site is also suitable for everyone.

Day 11 - No-dive day! Time for a day of sightseeing in Bali or relaxing...

Today, after breakfast, you will depart for a six- to eight-hour private tour of Bali’s highlights. First, you will be led on a 30-minute hike to the breathtaking Les waterfall, hidden in the heart of the lush Balinese jungle. Here you will enjoy the peace and beauty of nature.

Then the journey takes you through the impressive mountains of Bali to Kintamani. After a one-hour drive, you will reach the amazing area around Kintamani, where the famous “Pura Ulun Danu Batur” temple awaits.

For a truly unforgettable experience, start early in the morning with a trek to the top of Mount Batur to watch the breathtaking sunrise. So this can still be determined at the time you are there.

After visiting the Mount Batur region, the tour continues to Besakih Temple, also called the “Mother Temple” of Bali. Despite its popularity and crowds, this sacred site offers a unique opportunity to dive deep into the culture and spirituality of the Balinese community.

At the end of the tour, the royal water garden “Tirta Gangga” in Amplapura awaits. With its serene beauty, this water garden is a true paradise.

Day 12 & 13 - Back home....

Today it is time to pack up and check out. You drive toward the airport, but not without taking a last look at the beautiful Balinese landscape unfolding before you during the drive. The lush green rice fields, azure waters and charming villages will become unforgettable memories. You catch the overnight flight back and arrive home the next day in the morning tired but fulfilled.
