Diving at Palau reveals a breathtaking underwater world filled with diverse marine life. You can expect a multitude of colorful coral species, anemones and exotic fish such as angelfish, clownfish and parrotfish. There are also several species of sharks, including gray reef sharks and white-tip reef sharks. Manta rays float gracefully through the water, while sea turtles swim quietly by. For macro lovers, there are nudibranchs, shrimp and crabs. Palau’s waters are also home to several species of jellyfish, including the unique non-stinging jellyfish in Jellyfish Lake, a must-see experience for any diver.<\/p>\n

Diving around Palau offers even more diversity besides currents and reef life. Due to the soft structure of limestone, the base of the island, several caves and cave systems have been carved out. Jellyfish Lake in Palau is a unique saltwater lake filled with thousands of golden jellyfish. These particular jellyfish have lost their stinging ability over millions of years. Several<\/strong> World War II wrecks<\/strong> can also be seen around and on Palau. Both ships and aircraft<\/strong> are reasonably well preserved and are very photogenic. Especially famous is Jake Seaplane, a seaplane that has appeared on many covers.<\/p>\n

Best time to dive in Palau<\/h4>\n

What is the best travel time to go diving in Palau? The climate on Yap and Palau is tropical with warm, fairly stable temperatures (25 to 30\u00b0C). Basically, you can dive all year on Palau. November and December tend to be windy months, though. The average water temperature around Yap and Palau is 28\u00b0C. Underwater visibility averages 30 meters.<\/p>\n

The reef hook was invented in Palau<\/h4>\n

It’s not for nothing that the reef hook, a knack for staying in the current, was invented here. Various sea currents encounter Palau on their never-ending journey.<\/p>\n
